White Horse Theatre 2026

On Wednesday, June 17, the 9th-grade classes from our school visited the White Horse Theatre at the “Stadthalle”. They watched the play “Sticks and Stones”, which was about bullying.

Before the performance, the students studied the play and came up with questions to ask the actors, because after the performance they had time to talk with the actors.

The play was about a boy and a girl who were bullied by a gang. The reason it featured a boy and a girl is that boys and girls can relate to it better. Both are being bullied at school and don’t want to go there anymore. The girl, Ruth, confides in her teacher, and the boy, Tony, wants to talk to his mother. In both cases, however, the bullying is downplayed as harmless.

While the perspective kept changing, a certain friendship eventually developed between the bully and the “victim”. In addition, the audience was involved when the actors sat down among them, and the question of why bullies bully was also addressed.

It was a very educational play from which the students were able to learn something and improve their language skills. In addition, it was a very enjoyable and interesting play and a nice change of pace from the usual school routine.

On the same day the 6th graders and Q1 students also saw plays.

First, the play “The Tiger of the Seas” took the younger students on a pirate adventure. In the afternoon the Q1 travelled back in time to Long Island in the golden 20s in the “The Great Gatsby”.
